A small Affordable Housing development in Gloucestershire

Affordable Housing

GRCC has enabled the delivery of Rural Affordable Housing in Gloucestershire for many years, working with, and led by, local communities.

We do this by:

• Engaging and working with communities to carry out local Affordable Housing Needs Surveys, giving the opportunity for individuals to self-identify as being in housing need

• Exploring with communities ways to provide Affordable Housing, championing new approaches including Community-Led Housing, creating sustainable communities where local people have a say in shaping the future of their communities

• Finding sites for Affordable Housing and working with communities, land owners, local planning authorities and Registered Providers to enable delivery

• Giving people the facts about why Affordable Housing is important to local communities – and to Gloucestershire as a whole

• Support for communities to understand the planning system

• Providing data on Affordable Housing needs to our associated partners

• Shaping and influencing housing policy both locally and nationally, by highlighting barriers to the provision of affordable housing

• Working with other stakeholders such as the health sector to help beneficiaries such homeless people and ex service personnel

• As a member and the co-ordinator of the Gloucestershire Rural Housing Partnership (GRHP), we and our GRHP partners provide affordable housing information, advice and support to other sectors

Who can we help?

We focus on enabling affordable housing through social rent, affordable rent, and shared ownership tenures.

We help communities, Parish and Town Councils, Community-Led Housing groups and projects, Community Land Trusts, Cohousing groups, Landowners, Housing Associations, Planning Authorities, private developers, and others.
