Are you passionate about affordable housing for all?
Do you want to play a major part in growing and driving the availability of affordable housing in Gloucestershire?
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for and experience of enabling the delivery of affordable housing. You will be working with two other Housing Enablers and the wider, friendly team here at GRCC, working with local authorities, Housing Associations, and communities enabling the delivery of affordable housing.
You will engage with communities as a first step, out and about, connecting to groups and organisations as well as residents and parish / town councils; providing a range of support, from raising awareness of the need for affordable rural housing, facilitating initial discussions, gathering evidence of need, identifying sites and registered providers for delivery, and liaising with other stakeholders. You will assist communities throughout the journey of developing their own local affordable housing schemes which best suit their needs. We also need you to utilise your knowledge and experience of planning and / or housing enablement, perhaps gained from working with a local authority, housing association, or private practice, to further shape and influence Section 106 agreements and affordable housing planning applications.
Our ideal candidate is someone who is a clear communicator. You will be presenting to a range of audiences and the ability to build strong relationships is crucial. This post would suit someone who has worked in housing and / or planning, someone who is resilient, professional, and keen to make a real difference for those in housing need. In return, we will give you all the necessary training regardless of what experience you bring to the role, along with the opportunity to train as a Community Led Housing Advisor, all of which will add considerably to your professional development portfolio.
If this sounds like the kind of work you would like to do, we would love to hear from you. For more information or an informal chat, call Barbara Pond on 01452 528491, or simply fill in the application form, which you download via the links below.
As a responsive organisation, GRCC welcomes applications from across the breadth of communities we support, and aspires to diversity within our team, including of ethnic background, religion or belief systems, sex, sexuality, or gender identity.
Applications will only be accepted on a completed GRCC application form and should be submitted by 10a.m. on Monday, 22 September 2025
